A member is eligible if she is in the club for two years or less and meets the following Criteria:
a. Club and Community involvement, a willingness to help and take part and support all projects and members.
b. Regular attendance at meetings and committee functions.
c. Enthusiastic attitude and participation in discussions.
d. Is active on at least two committees.
Silver Dollar Award
Previous Silver Dollar Award Recipients
**Jo Beck was the person responsible for chartering the Lake Arrowhead Soroptimist Club. Jo was an active member of the Honolulu Club and transferred to the San Bernardino Club. She had moved to Lake Arrowhead and began the task of our Charter. Our club went on to Charter Big Bear Valley and Crestline Clubs. Running Springs resisted our efforts and later accepted Big Bear’s invitation to Charter.
***Rose Lossing, our Charter President, received a Silver Dollar as a Charter Gift. She had it placed on a chain and awarded it to a deserving member for outstanding service to the club and the community. The tradition continues with the past recipients of the award as the committee making the yearly selection. The current recipient or any of the previous recipients may call the Silver Dollar Committee meeting to select the new recipient for the upcoming year. Traditionally, it is presented at the Installation Ceremony of the Incoming Board for the upcoming year.
President's Award
This pin was given as a “farewell and thank you for your service to the Club” to a former member of SI Lake Arrowhead, Dena George.
When given an invitation to our 35th Anniversary party, Dena sent a lovely letter and a donation to the Community Services Committee. She thought that this was an appropriate time to return Audrey’s pin “home” to Lake Arrowhead and encouraged us to use it as a Special Award Pin or whatever we wanted to do with it. The pin originally belonged to a very outstanding member of Soroptimist International of Lake Arrowhead, Audrey MacKay. Audrey was a Charter member of the club in 1977 and then went on to be very involved in Lake Arrowhead Community Projects as a Soroptimist. Audrey was the first president of the Dam Commission in Lake Arrowhead and a park was constructed and named after her over by Papoose Dam in Lake Arrowhead.
2012 is the first year this pin was added to the SIROW member recognition program. This pin symbolizes the contributions and efforts of a member who works "behind the scenes" working on a project or projects that the President feels needs to be recognized for all that the member has done during the past year.
