Mountain of a Million Daffodils!

Daffodils 1

2024 Trumpet Dutch Master Bulbs

SOLD OUT

“Born” in 1993 as a project of SI Running Springs (which later merged with SI Lake Arrowhead to form SI Rim of the World) the Mountain of a Million Daffodils project has resulted in close to a quarter million daffodils being planted in our mountain communities. We are not yet at our million mark, but if anyone can soar to that goal, the SIROW team can!
SI of RS started the project to help beautify our mountain and put a smile on travelers’ faces. The group would plant half of the bulbs and sell the other half to help pay for the ones planted. It started off small and over the years really grew. Every year we plant at least two cases at sites yet to be determined.
The income from our daffodils goes to help support projects locally to assist women and young ladies in the mountain communities from the Crestline area to the Green Valley Lake area (programs such as our scholarships for the young ladies at the high schools, our Live Your Dream program, Violet Richardson Award, Ruby Award, and other projects that help to improve the lives of young ladies and women in our community.)

The daffodil bulbs are hardy for our high mountain altitude and occasional snowfalls, and these bulbs are very unappetizing to gophers and deer!

Daffodils 2

Soroptimist International of Rim of the World, Inc.

would like to thank you for your support of our fundraisers!

We have annually ordered large quantities of the bulbs and are always sold out. Buyers return year after year to add to their gardens. The bulbs are a popular item in neighborhoods, shopping areas, and homeowners’ associations.
The 2024 bulbs are due to be delivered late September beginning of October.

When you get your bulbs, make sure you store them in a cool place away from the sun. Do not put them in your refrigerator, as it will dry them out.
Plant your bulbs in late fall when the weather is much cooler and before the first frost. Plant them about 6 inches deep and 6 inches apart. Do not separate the bulbs if they are together.

The daffodils are from Holland and are hardy for our mountain climate and great around other flowers because the gophers and other animals will stay away from them.

Be sure to place your orders early – we cannot make an additional order after these are sold out.  Give your neighbors, your favorite merchants, your church, etc. an opportunity to make a bright spring display, improving the beauty of our mountain community and at the same time providing valuable services to our young ladies in the area.

Planting Guidelines:
●    Plan on planting in autumn so the bulbs are established before winter.
●    Select a site that offers full sun or partial sun, at the least. Daffodils will bloom best when given adequate exposure to early spring sunshine!
●    When planting choose an area that is freely drained as bulbs will rot in waterlogged areas.
●    Bulbs should be planted three or four times their depth. For the bulbs, aim for 6 inches (15 cm) deep.
●    Daffodils should be planted 3 to 6 inches (7.6 to 15.2 cm) apart.
●    Make sure you put the pointed end facing up.
●    In places with severe winters, ensure at least 3 inches (7.6 cm) of soil covers the bulbs!

ENJOY THE FOLLOWING SPRING!
